Counting from today, 2 September 2026, there are 69 weeks and 2 days left in 2027. That is 485 days until 31 December 2027, or roughly 35 fortnights.

The number changes every day. If you are reading this later, run the live weeks left counter for today's exact figure, or use the weeks between dates calculator with 31 December 2027 as your end date.

Once 2027 actually begins, the answer resets. On 1 January 2027 there will be exactly 52 weeks and 0 days remaining (364 days from the 1st to the 31st), because 2027 is a 365-day common year.

2027 at a glance

| Detail | 2027 | | --- | --- | | Total days | 365 (common year, not a leap year) | | First day | Friday, 1 January | | Last day | Friday, 31 December | | ISO 8601 week numbers | 52 (weeks 01 to 52) | | Total weeks | 52 weeks plus 1 extra day | | Fortnights | 26, plus 1 day left over | | Mon to Fri days | 261 | | Full weekends (Sat and Sun pairs) | 52 | | Friday the 13th | One only, in August |

The next leap year is 2028, so 2027 has the same 365-day structure as 2026, just shifted forward one weekday.

How to calculate weeks left in 2027

The method is the same one used on the homepage counter, and it works for any date.

  1. Take your starting date.
  2. Count the calendar days from that date to 31 December 2027.
  3. Divide by 7.
  4. Round down. The whole number is your full weeks remaining, and the remainder is your leftover days.

Worked example for today: 485 days to 31 December 2027, and 485 divided by 7 is 69 with 2 left over. That gives 69 full weeks and 2 days.

A second method you will see on other sites is subtracting the current week number from 52. It is quicker, but it drifts. Week numbering is defined by ISO 8601, which assigns whole Monday to Sunday weeks to whichever year holds the majority of their days, so the boundaries do not line up with 1 January or 31 December. Counting days is the method that stays accurate in every year.

Weeks left in 2027 by month

Full weeks remaining on the 1st of each month, counted through to 31 December 2027.

| Start of month | Days remaining | Weeks left | | --- | --- | --- | | 1 January | 364 | 52 weeks | | 1 February | 333 | 47 weeks, 4 days | | 1 March | 305 | 43 weeks, 4 days | | 1 April | 274 | 39 weeks, 1 day | | 1 May | 244 | 34 weeks, 6 days | | 1 June | 213 | 30 weeks, 3 days | | 1 July | 183 | 26 weeks, 1 day | | 1 August | 152 | 21 weeks, 5 days | | 1 September | 121 | 17 weeks, 2 days | | 1 October | 91 | 13 weeks | | 1 November | 60 | 8 weeks, 4 days | | 1 December | 30 | 4 weeks, 2 days |

Two points worth noticing. The halfway mark falls in early July, not at the end of June, because 26 weeks from 1 January lands on 2 July. And by 1 October you have exactly 13 weeks, which is one clean quarter with no remainder. That makes 1 October a natural planning reset if you want a final push before the year closes.

Why 2027 has 52 weeks and not 53

Some years carry a 53rd ISO week. 2026 is one of them. 2027 is not.

The rule is simple: a year gets 53 ISO weeks when 1 January falls on a Thursday, or when it falls on a Wednesday in a leap year. In 2027, 1 January is a Friday, so 2027 has 52 ISO weeks.

That has a practical consequence at both ends of the year:

  • 1 to 3 January 2027 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) belong to ISO week 53 of 2026, which runs from 28 December 2026 to 3 January 2027.
  • ISO week 01 of 2027 starts on Monday 4 January and ends Sunday 10 January.
  • ISO week 52 runs from Monday 27 December 2027 to Sunday 2 January 2028, so the last three days of that week are already in 2028.

If your payroll, rota or reporting system numbers weeks with a Sunday start rather than the ISO Monday start, your week numbers through 2027 will generally sit one ahead of the ISO numbers. This is the single most common reason two calculators disagree. Check which convention your system uses before reconciling anything. The full ISO table is published on Epoch Converter.

Working weeks left in 2027

2027 has 261 Monday to Friday days. That comes from 52 full weeks (260 weekdays) plus the one leftover day, which is a Friday, since the year both starts and ends on a Friday.

Subtract public holidays and the picture tightens. The United States has 11 federal holidays established under 5 U.S.C. 6103, and three of them land on a weekend in 2027, so the observed dates shift.

| Holiday | Date in 2027 | Observed | | --- | --- | --- | | New Year's Day | Friday, 1 January | 1 January | | Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. | Monday, 18 January | 18 January | | Washington's Birthday | Monday, 15 February | 15 February | | Memorial Day | Monday, 31 May | 31 May | | Juneteenth | Saturday, 19 June | Friday, 18 June | | Independence Day | Sunday, 4 July | Monday, 5 July | | Labor Day | Monday, 6 September | 6 September | | Columbus Day | Monday, 11 October | 11 October | | Veterans Day | Thursday, 11 November | 11 November | | Thanksgiving Day | Thursday, 25 November | 25 November | | Christmas Day | Saturday, 25 December | Friday, 24 December |

Source: U.S. Office of Personnel Management, which sets the in lieu of rule under which a Saturday holiday is observed on the preceding Friday and a Sunday holiday on the following Monday.

Removing those 11 observed days from 261 weekdays leaves 250 working days in 2027, which is 50 working weeks. One extra note for anyone building a 2027 leave calendar: New Year's Day 2028 falls on a Saturday, so for most federal employees it is observed on Friday 31 December 2027. That day sits inside calendar 2027 even though OPM lists it on the 2028 schedule.

The observed shifts also make three of the year's long weekends unusual. Juneteenth and Christmas both become Friday closures, and Independence Day becomes a Monday closure, giving 2027 more three-day weekends attached to fixed-date holidays than 2026 had.

Outside the US, subtract your own national holidays plus your annual leave. Most people work somewhere near 46 to 48 weeks in practice, not 52.

Weeks per quarter in 2027

| Quarter | Dates | Length | Weeks left at quarter start | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Q1 | 1 Jan to 31 Mar | 90 days | 52 weeks | | Q2 | 1 Apr to 30 Jun | 91 days | 39 weeks, 1 day | | Q3 | 1 Jul to 30 Sep | 92 days | 26 weeks, 1 day | | Q4 | 1 Oct to 31 Dec | 92 days | 13 weeks |

Q2, Q3 and Q4 each hold 13 full weeks. Q1 is the short one at 12 weeks and 6 days, which catches out anyone assuming four identical 13-week blocks when setting quarterly targets. If you run two-week sprints, a 13-week quarter gives you six sprints and one spare week for planning or review. The weeks in quarter tool tracks this for the quarter you are currently in.

Paydays and pay periods in 2027

Because 2027 starts and ends on a Friday, it contains 53 Fridays, against 52 of every other weekday.

That matters more than it sounds:

  • Paid weekly on a Friday? 2027 gives you 53 paychecks instead of the usual 52.
  • Paid fortnightly on a Friday? Depending on where your cycle falls, 2027 can produce 27 pay periods rather than 26. Payroll teams usually plan for this in advance, because it affects annual salary division and benefit deductions.
  • Budgeting monthly against a weekly income? The extra Friday shows up as a five-payday month somewhere in the year.

Check your own cycle against the calendar rather than assuming. The fortnights left counter is the quickest way to see how many two-week blocks remain.

Calculate it in Excel or Google Sheets

Replace TODAY() with any date reference if you want a fixed starting point.

Full weeks remaining, rounded down:

=INT((DATE(2027,12,31)-TODAY())/7)

Nearest whole week:

=ROUND((DATE(2027,12,31)-TODAY())/7,0)

Weeks and leftover days shown separately:

=INT((DATE(2027,12,31)-TODAY())/7)&" weeks, "&MOD((DATE(2027,12,31)-TODAY()),7)&" days"

Working days remaining, weekends excluded:

=NETWORKDAYS(TODAY(),DATE(2027,12,31))

NETWORKDAYS skips Saturdays and Sundays but knows nothing about public holidays. Add your holiday dates to a column and pass that range as the third argument to subtract them too.

Using the weeks you have left

A week is short enough to feel immediate and long enough to finish something. That combination is why weekly planning tends to beat monthly planning for anything with a deadline.

Some rough conversions for the 52 weeks of 2027:

  • Fitness. Most structured beginner programmes run 8 to 12 weeks. A full year fits four cycles with recovery time between them.
  • Savings. Divide the target by the weeks remaining. A vague annual number becomes a specific weekly transfer.
  • Learning. Pick something that fits a 10-week block rather than an open-ended goal, then repeat it.
  • Client or project work. Assign one deliverable per remaining week. A project with 20 weeks left and no milestones is a project with one deadline and no early warning system.
  • Content and marketing. Weekly cadence is easier to sustain and easier to measure than a monthly one.

If your financial year does not follow the calendar year, the financial year tracker counts weeks left in the Australian, UK and US financial years instead. To turn an annual target into a week-by-week schedule, set your own milestones in the weekly planner.

Why does my week count differ from another calculator? Usually one of three reasons: the other tool counts from tomorrow rather than today, it rounds to the nearest week instead of rounding down, or it uses Sunday-start week numbering instead of the ISO Monday-start system.
